Who We Are

Hope Ships exists to bring hope and help to all in and around the Penwith area of West Cornwall. We
are a Christian based mental health and well-being project, providing pastoral care and chaplaincy to all (with or without faith).

What We Do

We make good coffee and share food, we maintain a variety of boats and we go sailing. We offer short day cruises around Mounts Bay, across to St. Michael’s Mount and Mousehole. We also offer longer trips  around the Cornish coast, to the Scilies or towards Falmouth when required. We do it all in an unpressurized, de-stressed atmosphere, making time for conversation and rest. New skills are learned and iife-changing  friendships are forged.

We have qualified RYA sailing instructors and a qualified counsellor available for those who might
want or need their skills and the project is led by an ordained Pastor from a local church here in
Newlyn.

Who We're For

We are open to anyone who needs us. We are here for  folk who are struggling with
PTSD, addictions, loss of work, loneliness or suffering from ill health. A shared task or project like boat maintenance and sailing is often the key to helping folk who find it hard to talk about what is really going on in their lives. Often our vulnerability  can stop us doing this and the effects can be devastating. The growing statistics for mental health issues needs addressing and we’re here to play our part. Our aim is to combat loneliness and isolation by reconnecting people with each other, with nature and for those who ask, with God.
